Zoe Konez - Demo Date July 30th, 2005
According to her website, Zoe was working for 'a weekly music magazine' by age 17, what it doesn't mention is that the magazine was Kerrang! Quite an achievement for a 17 year old. After playing with various bands, and diving head first into the music world, Zoe went solo in 2004. I became aware of her through a friend, and after working with her on the Performance Stage at Truck festival '05. We're all familiar with the kind of singer/songwriters who plays constant random chords, and 'sings' out of rhythm to a harassed microphone and worst of all, does really well out of it. Zoe represents the saviour of female acoustic music from the stereotypical image it was developing. |

Zoe came along to The White Hart at the end of January and played a great set, full of altered tunings, complex rhythms, edgy lyrics and passion-filled vocals, with Paul B from And His Voice Became joining her on drums for one song. Zoe was kind enough to give us an interview when she came off stage, so listen out for her take on playing the Fishbowl |
